The city of Tamil Nadu is often looked upon as the most traditional city in the world amongst the others. The sarees and dhotis are woven on handlooms with three strands of threads. Each saree is woven over a fortnight and sold in the market within seconds. The borders of the sarees are completely different from the rest of designs created on the body.

Sarees cannot be washed by hand or in a washing machine. They have to be dry cleaned carefully without the threads or the body tearing. A lot of the colors tend to run and ruin the other clothes. The body and the pallu of the sarees are given different colors and are joint together when the entire body has been woven.

The Dhoti was 1st woven by Mahatma Gandhi on a handloom and worn with grace and pride. It was created to throw the western attire out of the country and to bring in what was originally known as the Indian attire. It is a single piece of cloth that was worn to drive the Britishers out of India. The tradition of weaving clothes began 400 years ago with three weavers sitting at the temples. The weavers shifted from Andhra Pradesh and were ruled by Krishna Deva Ray.

The weaving industry is not what is was once upon a time since the younger generation have decided to go onto a different track and choose different carriers. Their father felt that the weaving industry was not meant for their children and allowed them to study further. Kamachi was one of the temples in the south where the weavers began weaving sarees. There are about 130 temples in the city of Kanchipuram.

Every tourist who comes to visit Tamil Nadu buys a least Kanchipuram sarees for their Indian friends back home. The dhoti is a rectangular piece of cloth that is wrapped around a man's waist and is known to cover the lower half of a man's body. It relaxes the muscles of the stomach and the gives the legs enough space to move around. The ancient gurus wore dhotis all the time. It was given great importance. The entire process of tying the dhoti around thewaist is pretty simple. It starts by tying a knot in the center and then taking it through the legs and the thighs and finally back around the waist.
